POS Services have been engaged for the provision of labour, plant and materials to principal contractor, London Underground, to undertake the Embankment Stabilisation works at Rickmansworth CTS10.
The works are located on the crest edge of the embankment and involves a cutting of 355m length located between chainage (Ch.) M036/MNB 0695 and 1050 along the Metropolitan line between Rickmansworth and Chorleywood stations.
The works are complex in nature and involve high risk activities such as the use of 8t and 13t excavators and plant, working at height on the cutting above the rail track. Firstly, the team remove vegetation including tree roots before re-grading the top 1.5m of cutting face and removing all the loose material to obtain a smooth and uniform profile.
There is also an on-going requirement for working at height. POS Services rope access specialists, trained and competent operatives have installed crest barriers and platypus anchors along the length of the cutting to form the anchor points for rope access. Using rope access, our trained operatives carry out the installation of the SALIX VMax P550 Turf Reinforcement Mat which is placed over the finished topsoil with a 750mm lap over the edge on to crest and fixed with 500mm steel pins.
POS Services also supply our own in-house safety critical staff for the protection of workers on track traffic hours (PWT-TH) throughout the re-grading works.
We also provide our own in-house T002/3 Hand back engineers and protection of workers on track engineering hours (PWT-EH) during the installation of temporary fencing works track side.
POS Services works consists of the following scope:
Elements of vegetation clearance of cutting face including tree roots. Ground investigation works involving search through CAT scanning and ground penetrating radar.
